Meet Fame and Partners – the anti fast fashion shop

Happy Memorial Day!  I must confess that I have a love/hate relationship with three-day weekends.  It’s nice to have an extra day off, but it’s never enough and I think we can all agree!  Haha!  Ok, but the silver lining here is that we have a shorter week so let’s get back to business, shall we?

Today’s post is about Fame & Partners.  You guys, I seriously love this shop!  Not only I am a fan of their unique and versatile pieces: everything is made to order based on your measurements and color customization.  It’s like having your own personal tailor!  Also, it gets better:  $5 from every sale gets funded to one of their partner charities that help empower women worldwide.  I support anything for a good cause and I appreciate them for giving back to the female community. How amazing is that?

Lastly, I’d like to acknowledge Fame & Partners for helping me become a conscious consumer by shopping ethically!  I salute you for not mass producing but making ethical and sustainable clothing because it’s better for Mother Earth.  To learn more about this anti fast-fashion shop and their empowerment initiatives, read here.

Hope you guys enjoy the rest of your week!  ❤️

“The one outfit that you need when the temps go up…”

Happy Friday!  At last, a blog post.  I’ve been traveling here and there and been sick for almost 5 weeks total (off and on, guys.  nothing crazy aside from getting the shingles!).  But really, it’s been a crazy month and I’ve been nutty as a fruitcake.  Haha!  I STILL haven’t posted images from my Hawaii trip, but that’s coming up next, promise!

So back to what I was saying about the one outfit that you need this summer; an all white two piece ensemble.  There’s something about a coordinating white outfit.  Whenever I throw it on, I get the most compliments from people.  I just love how undeniably fresh and crisp it looks.  The Liesl two piece by Fame and Partners is my go-to outfit this summer.  It’s cute worn together or even separately!  The thing that I love about matching sets is the versatility.  I’ve worn the skirt alone with a vintage rock tee and the top with destructed denim.  Oh, the possibilities make me feel like a winner!

It’s a breath of fresh air when I come up with a weather appropriate outfit that doesn’t involve my trusty Levi’s cutoffs.  I say that because that pretty much sums up my summer uniform.  I bought my first all white summer outfit last year and became obsessed!   I’m going to elevate my wardrobe this time around with more sets…maybe more in white!

“How do I wear bralette crop tops? Come see!”

Hey guys!  I’m back with an outfit post finally!  Woo hoo!

Summer is here and the heat is on!  Crop tops have been a major summer staple for a while now.  If you have rocked this look, then you’re most likely going to like the bralette/crop top combo like the one I’m wearing here.  When I tried this top on, I fell in love with it, but didn’t have the guts to wear it by itself.  I just thought that it was a little too daring for me, so my denim jacket came to the rescue!  Problem solved. Layering it with any piece of outerwear will give your outfit a more relaxed, but subtle sexy look.  Balance plays a major role on how to wear a bralette crop top:  Opt for something high-waisted (pants, skirt, shorts) to make it look less risqué.  I like when a bit of skin is showing and most of the mid drift is covered.  Classy is key!

Many of you know about the Nordstrom anniversary sale that’s going on now. Guess what?  This top just went on sale!  Grab it while it’s hot!  Happy shopping <3

“#CoachSpring2016 Campaign”

Hey guys!  I feel like it’s been a while since my last blog post.  I’ve been on duty and on the go lately so it’s been a challenge trying to keep up!  I’m finally blogging about my Instagram project/collaboration with Coach for their #CoachSpring2016 campaign.  I am honored (and thrilled!) to be a part of such a fun project!  I spent the day in San Francisco with the help of my sister, Gladys (photographer extraordinaire) and much-needed assistance from my good friend, Andrea.  This shoot wouldn’t have been possible without you two, so thank you!

We shot two looks throughout the city featuring The Coach Swagger 20 mini bag and the C101 Low Top Sneaker.  Hope you guys like it!

Look #1:

Let me tell you about the cutest little bag: The Coach Swagger 20.  This pretty little thing matches my petite frame, but still makes room for my daily essentials.  It also comes with a strap if you’re a hands-free type of gal.  Perfect for roaming around in the city when you’re always on the go like me!

Look #2:

The white sneaker is the most coveted pair of shoes that are in every fashionista’s closet lately.  They’re cute, comfortable, and will go with just about everything.  The pink stitching on my Coach C101 Low Tops brings a nice feminine touch!  What’s not to love about these?  Heart emojis all the way!

“The must have sandal this season!”

Happy Friday, everyone!  With summer fast-approaching, I’ve spent many hours spring cleaning AKA my annual closet purge.  The hardest part was letting go of my favorite pieces, but let’s be honest here: less is more.  It’s really not the quantity in your closet, but it’s having well-chosen pieces that you love and serve you well.  I made lots of room in my closet this year and adding to my collection is the must have sandal this season: the chunky platform sandal.  Chunky trend is here to stay and will be everywhere this season.  The platforms give you the comfort of a flat with a little extra lift for added height!  I’m barely 5’2 tall, and these babies give me a little extra boost! These are perfect for trekking around the city and an upgrade from my trusted pair of Birkenstocks.  Also, they look good with pretty much anything from shorts to dresses! This is a trend that you want to be a part of, no matter what height.  So, are you in on the chunky sandal trend?

“Olive you so much.”

There’s one color that I can’t get enough of:  Olive green.  This shade looks good on everybody and looks good in pretty much everything.  Instead of the popular olive bomber jacket we’ve seen everywhere, I opted for something lightweight to tackle Spring temperatures and can be used in the Summer as well:  an olive-green chambray button down.  I’ve gone through a few of these over the years and have worn them over maxi dresses, denim, shorts…you name it.  All you have to do is throw it on to anchor an outfit.  I did a little pop of color with an orange cami because it goes with khaki tones so well.  Since the pieces I have on are a bit on the baggy side, I decided to wear heels for added height (balance is key, ladies!).  And as far as my accessories go, leopard and stripes go hand in hand here (yes, you can mix patterns as long as the colors match!).  Lastly, can’t have a My Style and Grace outfit without sunglasses and these mirrored lovelies are everything.  To my go to shirt this season: Olive you so much <3

“Less is more.”

First blog post of the month!  Woohoo!  I’ve been quite a busy bee lately, but I hope you guys didn’t miss me too much!  I am currently working on an Instagram project with Coach, so stay tuned for that!  It’s not going to be until April/May, but I am very excited and can’t wait to share with you guys!

Anyways, back to business.  Let’s talk about dressing basic/minimal.  This style has taken over the world of social media and it’s been proven that it’s not such a bad thing. Clean lines and simple silhouettes – it’s a no brainer.  The key here is adding a statement to your outfit.  That can be texture, a little pattern or pop of color to help accentuate the “basics”.  It’s also nice to stick with neutral palettes and don’t be afraid to be playful! Instead of a basic white button down, I picked this one up with a slightly ruffled back and my pants tie in the front!  I kept my shoes and accessories simple: nude sandals, classic aviators and gold minimal jewelry.  When it comes to this pared-down and understated look, less is definitely more. <3

“Palm Sundaze”

What’s not to love about palm trees?  Whenever I see palm trees, I think of tropical beaches in paradise and this top makes me feel like I’m going on a Hawaiian getaway, umbrella drink included.  My sister gifted me this shirt for my birthday in June and I’ve worn it constantly with jeans and cutoffs – even alone over my bikini as a cover up!  Such a perfect summer top!

I swapped my denim blues for white denim as a nice shift from my heavy darks.  I think white jeans are perfect for anchoring prints, especially when you are mixing them. What’s a summer outfit without a panama hat and statement sunglasses?  These are my summer essentials and pulls the whole “summery vibe” look together.  Chunky sandals can be cute depending on how you style them and my all black Birkenstocks  are further proof that basically everything goes with them.

I hope you guys are enjoying what’s left of the summer because it’ll be gone before you know it!  I’m about to spend the rest of my #PalmSundaze hunting for palm trees. <3

———————————————————————————————–

On Sunday’s I also like to catch up on my favorite blogs and I wanted to share with you Talk Pray Shop by my lovely friend Amanda!  Her posts are filled with feel-good content so please check it out and you’ll see why this blue-eyed beauty is one of my faves!

10 reasons why I love Amanda Sue:

  1. She’s a die-hard donut lover like me.  Enough said.
  2. Her confident belief and trust with God.
  3. She’s a full-time elementary school teacher and is great with kids!
  4. When she’s not teaching, she’s teaching barre classes.  No wonder she can eat all those donuts and still maintain a bikini bod!
  5. Her personally hand-written monthly letters of encouragement that she sends to her readers.  How genuinely sweet is that?  Want one? Sign up here.
  6. Her style is super cute and is always well accessorized. 🙂
  7. She’s got a great sense of humor!  I love that I find humor in some of her blog and Instagram posts.
  8. A true darling and is beautiful inside AND out.  She even shipped me a donut mug earlier this year in case they sold out at my hometown Target.  So thoughtful and sweet!
  9. The fact that she got married on my birthday!  How awesome is that?  Makes it easier to remember her wedding anniversary! Haha!
  10. What I like about her the most is her modesty and humbleness.  She is a good role model to others and practices what she preaches.  This darling is genuine and has a kind heart.  Love you, Amanda Sue!

“DIY denim vest”

I know that there are some old items in your closet hanging lonely in the dark, but can be an inspiration for something new.  I had an old denim jacket from high school that I just can’t seem to toss.  I’ve always wanted a denim vest, but can’t seem to find the perfect one yet (picky shopper here) so I thought to myself “hmm, what if I..?” Then, the easiest DIY happened in a matter of minutes and I scored myself a denim vest! Winning!

Who doesn’t love a super easy DIY project?  Easy as in all you need is a pair of scissors to make this happen.  Say what?!  Oh and that old jean jacket of yours collecting dust in your closet.  Don’t own a pair? You can even find one at your local thrift store.  Now that’s a great way of picking one up without shelling out the cash!

Ready for this?  It gets easier.  Start cutting the sleeves off as close to the sleeve seam as possible.  Clean up the edges.  Done.  No hemming or sewing needed.  Oh my goodness, was that easy or what?  Now you’ve got yourself a denim vest!  I love denim vests because you can basically throw them over anything.  It’s my summer staple at the moment!  Here I’m showing a little bit of skin, so I made my crop top daytime appropriate by wearing it with a high-waisted skirt.  I layered it with my denim vest that I made (yay!) to balance it out.  I added printed sandals and a clutch both in neutral colors to keep it simple.  And lastly, sunglasses because you all know this girl and her sunnies are an inseparable bond. <3

“Easy, breezy, and dreamy in the City.”

Hello there, San Francisco!  I love you even though you stay chilly most of the year. Still, I can’t get enough of your beauty and the lasting impressions you leave me with.  I heart you, SF!

Like any other day, I coordinate my outfits according to the weather.  Even with the sun shining, I knew it was going to be quite chilly in the city, but I couldn’t resist wearing my palazzo pants from Tobi!  I am such a huge fan of these wide-legged wonders that they have taken up a small (just a tad bit) fraction of my closet space.  Palazzo pants are so amazing because they’re so incredibly comfortable!  With the right styling, they can work for cold weather, but they’re ideal for warmer temperatures because they’re so light.  One thing to keep in mind though when choosing palazzo pants is to make sure you choose the one that suits your body shape.  I am 5’1 (yes, I am tiny!) and I like the ones that hit the heel of my shoe which creates a long leg line.  It makes me look inches taller without cutting me off.  Versatility is also why I love these so much because of the many ways it can be worn.  I usually wear crop tops with palazzo pants, but I opted for a tee this time (tuck in the front, it makes a difference) because it had more fabric for more coverage.  I threw on my favorite black jacket for added warmth and to make this dressed down combo more chic.  You wouldn’t expect something as tough and solid as a leather jacket to go with something flowy as these pants, but if it works, WEAR IT!

Rooftop hangs call for sunglasses too, to protect those eyes from the bright sun.  So necessary when looking at those killer views up there.  Fun fact: The Golden Gate bridge can be seen from my sister’s apartment rooftop.  Pretty cool if you ask me! <3
