Happy Birthday, Dad.

Good morning everyone.  It was really hard for me to write this post. Life was so different this time last year.  It’s March 21 and it’s also my father’s birthday.  He would have been 63 years old today.  When grieving we can be going along and everything seems to be okay.  Then out of nowhere, grief hits you in full force.  The hardest part of healing after you’ve lost a loved one is to recover the “you” that went away with them too.  Its been almost several months since my dad entered the gates of Heaven and the pain still hasn’t gone away…I’m just learning to make room for it.

But then there’s a special kind of feeling when I think about my dad. The special memories, his jokes, his love for food.  He was caring and selfless.  I miss being able to get advice from him too…I often wonder what he would say now.

I wanted to honor my dad on his birthday by styling one of his dress shirts.  My dad had a thing for button ups.  Back in the day, I would help pick them out whenever we would go shopping.  He wasn’t afraid of color and loved stripes and plaid!  He was open to almost anything. Now you guys know where I get it from!  Fun fact: I tried to incorporate the roses somehow for this shoot because my dad liked roses. Growing up, my dad used to take my sister and I to the park on his days off.  Our pre-internet days, spent at the rose garden.  We even had photoshoots at the rose garden with my dad’s camera and everything! Oh what I would give to relive those moments again.

At times when I would get lonely, there’s always this comforting feeling that I get whenever I hold/wear my dad’s clothes.  It’s like  getting an invisible hug from him.  There will always be a place somewhere within my heart that only my father can own.

Oh, Dad.  There’s never a day that goes by that I don’t look at your picture and smile.  Or cry.  Or both.  Happy Birthday in heaven. 💛

Coffee and clothes

Hi.  My name is Grace and I’m addicted to coffee.  Oh, and clothes. Shocker.  Ok, maybe I’m not THAT addicted to coffee, but we’re just in a committed relationship.  Haha.

I’m always on a hunt for good coffee in my area and when my girlfriend/blogger bestie Monica of @livinginvogue introduced me to B2 Coffee, I’ve been coming back here ever since.

We shot this look in front of the coffee shop and it was also the perfect excuse to get coffee.  Before my “staged coffee run” (lol let’s be real), I was cleaning out my closet and trying to get it ready for the next season.  Spring temperatures are here and I am slowly transitioning my wardrobe.  I picked up this cotton/linen button down shirt from Topshop and I know for a fact that I will be wearing it throughout Spring and Summer.  It can still get a little chilly so I always carry a leather jacket with me (I keep one in my car too) just in case.  Why a leather jacket and not a sweater?  Because it makes any outfit look effortless.  Plus its cool!  It’s an instant “badassifier” if that’s even a thing.

I anchored this casual look with a pop of color which I don’t do often! Thanks to my friends over at Kava Shoes for these red beauties.  I will always be a sneaker girl and now I have red ones to add to my collection!  Thank you!

Brb.  Looks like it’s time for another caffeine pick me up (and yes, I’m that girl that drinks coffee in the evening so don’t judge me).

Happy Humpday! 💛

Louis Vuitton X My Style and Grace #MakeAPromise Event

You guys!  My website is finally up and running again!  YAY!  I’m overly excited to be back in the blogging game (pardon me) after a brief hiatus.  My website has been down for quite sometime due to some hosting issues, but things are taken care of and the wheels are in motion.  The only bummer is that I lost a few of my older posts (insert sad face emoji) and my blog feels incomplete.  Eek!  It’s like I’m having to start over again.  Oh well.  Out with the old, in with the new.  I’m super late with this post, but hey, #betterlatethannever.

Almost several months ago after I lost my father to a heart attack (August 2016),  I prayed to hopefully rebuild my life again while welcoming the new year ahead.  God must’ve listened and granted me this amazing, once in a lifetime endeavor.

So what is it?

Earlier this year, I was blessed with the opportunity to host the #MakeAPromise event with Louis Vuitton for UNICEF.  This so far, is the highlight of my blogging career.  I still pinch myself to this day.  Me? Louis Vuitton?  Get out of here.  Never in my life did I ever think I would collaborate with Louis Vuitton.  Aah!  And not only that, they have joined forces with UNICEF to launch a global initiative with the goal of raising funds that will benefit children in urgent need.  It was humbling to be a part of this great cause.  Thank you, Louis Vuitton.  I am forever grateful for this.

It’s been an emotional rollercoaster and I wanted to express my appreciation to you.  A wholehearted thanks for keeping up and growing with me in my blogging career.   Ok, here comes the tears so I’m going to stop right here.  But really guys, I continue to do what I do because of you.  Thank you for YOUR part in MY journey. 💛
